The Business English course is for business people who want to focus on effective communication skills. Our classes focus on the language you need to operate efficiently in your working environment. The course will cover necessary business skills such as telephone language, English for business meetings, presentations, report writing, emailing, and liaising with clients.

About Course

From our learning centre in Wimbledon South West London, you will be taught by experienced native speakers with varied backgrounds in business. Business English lessons aim to cover a range of skills that are found in everyday work scenarios. Unlike a General English course, vocabulary and dialogue will be focused on scenarios such as negotiating deals, coping with communication problems and giving presentations to clients or colleagues. For those who are seeking employment, there is advice on how to respond to difficult questions during job interviews so that you can feel confident the next time you are in an interview environment. The course also looks at cross-cultural communication where both parties are non-native English Speakers.

The complicity of Business English courses and the use of the English language within the courses requires at least an intermediate level of English. To get the most from your Business English course it is a good idea to tell your tutor in advance which industry you work in and prepare a list of industry-specific terms that you will need to use and look up their translation in a dictionary or online. You can take this list to your tutor and get guidance as to how to use them in the correct context.

Level of English Offered & CEFR Equivalents

A1 = Beginner
A2 = Pre-intermediate
B1 = Intermediate/Upper Intermediate
B2 = Upper Intermediate
C1 = Pre-advanced/Advanced

Maximum Class Size

15 (but usually class numbers range between 4 to 6 people)

Course Duration

The minimum length of time you can book a course for is 1 week (there is no maximum limit as you can book as many weeks as you want)

Intake Dates

Every week with a Monday start throughout the year (except national public and Christmas breaks). If you enrol on a part-time course (less than 15 hours per week), you would have agreed your class days (and start date) with a member of the admission team during the enrolment process.

Admission Requirements

The course requires at least an intermediate level of English
You must be aged 16+
We recommend that overseas applicants requiring a visa to study with us enroll in full-time courses (minimum 15 hours per week)

Fees & Funding

All our English courses are self-funded. You are considered to be a self-funded student if you are funding your own studies or you are getting financial help from family or friends or receiving financial assistance directly from an external funder excluding UK student loan

How To Apply

You can apply online or by downloading and completing our Student Application Form and providing us with a copy of your passport or a valid photo ID.

Class Times

This course is 3 hours per day, 5 days per week, usually Monday to Friday. You can choose from one of our three sessions to attend your course (subject to availability).
